Beet pulp is a by-product of the sugar beet industry and is made from the fibrous material left over after the sugar has been extracted. It is a highly digestible source of fibre and can be an important part of a horse's diet. Beet pulp can be purchased in dry form or pre-soaked, and is commonly fed to horses as part of their daily diet.

Nutritional Benefits of Beet Pulp:

  • High in fibre: which makes it an excellent addition to a horse's diet.

Fibre is essential for maintaining digestive health and can help to prevent issues such as colic and impaction. Additionally, fibre helps to keep horses feeling full and satisfied, which can be beneficial for those that struggle with weight management.

  • Low in sugar and starch: making it suitable for horses with dietary restrictions.

Horses that are sensitive to sugar and starch may experience issues such as laminitis or insulin resistance if they consume too much of these nutrients. Feeding beet pulp can be a safe way to provide additional calories and fibre without increasing a horse's sugar or starch intake.

  •  Rich in calcium and other minerals:

which can help to keep your horse's teeth and bones healthy. Calcium is essential for maintaining strong bones, while other minerals such as magnesium and potassium play important roles in muscle function and overall health.

Why Feed Beet Pulp to Horses?

  • A useful source of fibre in case of poor quality hay:

A useful source of extra calories and fibre for horses that struggle to maintain condition.

  • Aids in digestion and prevent colic:
